# 1. Iron Ore Processing (Extraction of Iron)
\nIron is primarily extracted from its ores, mainly hematite (Fe\u2082O\u2083) and magnetite (Fe\u2083O\u2084), through a process called smelting in a blast furnace. The key steps are:<\/p>\n

## (a) Concentration of Ore (Beneficiation)
\n– Crushing & Grinding: The ore is crushed and ground into fine particles.
\n– Magnetic Separation: Used for magnetite (Fe\u2083O\u2084), which is magnetic.
\n– Gravity Separation & Fr\"process Flotation: Used for hematite to remove silica and other impurities.<\/p>\n

## (b) Roasting & Calcination
\n– If the ore contains carbonate or hydrated oxides, it is heated to remove water and CO\u2082:
